This film centers around Kevin Crowe, a potter who lives and works in central Virginia at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Every 6 months, Kevin fires 2,000 pieces in his large 3-chambered wood-burning kiln. We'll watch as Kevin throws pieces on the wheel, and then witness the action-packed five day firing process, during which Kevin and his crew feed wood through flaming ports day and night. If all goes well, the kiln will reach 2400 degrees Fahrenheit, and finished the pots will emerge with unique flame and ash patterns emblazoned across their surfaces. But dramatic temperature fluctuations could ruin all 2,000 pots, and obliterate 6 months worth of Kevin's income. Enter the little-known world of a close-knit wood-firing community - you might just come away changed.
